Policy & Ethics
General Information
- All rats MUST be housed in appropriate cages.
- Rats must have access to food and water at all times.
- I will happily take back a rat if circumstances change and you cannot take care of said rats.
- Adopters will be approved before continuing with the process.
- I am a closed rattery (read below for more info).
Breeding
- Female rats (does) will not be bred any earlier then 4 months. If they are 4 months and are 250 g, then they will be considered for possible breeding.
- Does will not be bred for the first time if they are over a year and it would be their first litter.
- Does will not be bred more then 3 times in their lives.
- Bucks typically will not be bred any earlier then 6 months to rule out hormonal aggression.
Adoption
- Rats will be adopted with a partner of the same sex (as rats cannot be kept alone), unless there's a partner for the rat at the adopters home.
- Prices for rats right now are $15 for a single, $20 for a pair, and $25 for a trio. This is subject to change.
- I can refuse to adopt out rats if I feel the circumstances aren't fit for said rats.
- Potential adopters must fill out adoption application.
- Rats do not leave the rattery until they are six weeks or older.
Closed Rattery
A closed rattery simply means that adopters will not be coming into my home or meeting at my home for pickup. I will meet somewhere in Clackamas area or near by. I do this for the safety of my rats and others in my home. I will be happy to send pictures of their cages, food, and anything else you'd like to see!
